Rules

  1. Field: Street soccer is typically played on a smaller, improvised field such as a street, playground, or futsal court. The size of the field can vary widely, but it’s usually smaller than a standard soccer field.
  2. Teams: Street soccer can be played with any number of players, ranging from 1v1 up to larger teams. However, smaller-sided games (3v3 or 4v4) are more common due to the limited space.
  3. Duration: Matches are often played in short, fast-paced rounds, typically ranging from 5 to 10 minutes per game. Multiple games can be played in a single session.
  4. No Referees: Street soccer is usually self-regulated, meaning there are no official referees. Players are expected to abide by the rules and resolve disputes among themselves.
  5. Scoring: Goals are typically scored by putting the ball into the opposing team’s net. Depending on the agreed-upon rules, goals may need to be scored below a certain height (e.g., waist-height) to prevent the use of hands.
  6. Out-of-Bounds: If the ball goes out of play, play is usually restarted with a kick-in, throw-in, or dribble-in from the sidelines, depending on the agreed-upon rules.
  7. No Offside: Offside rules are often relaxed or not enforced in street soccer, allowing for more fluid and attacking gameplay.
  8. Fouls: Physical contact is often permitted to a certain extent, but excessively rough play is generally discouraged. Fouls may result in free kicks, penalty kicks, or other restarts, depending on the severity and location of the foul.
  9. Keepers: Some variations of street soccer include a goalkeeper, while others do not. When a goalkeeper is present, they may have specific rules regarding handling the ball, such as not being allowed to pick it up if a teammate passes it back.
  10. Fair Play: Despite the competitive nature of street soccer, emphasis is often placed on fair play, respect, and sportsmanship among players.
